Save the Children-UK donates modern school complex to Careysburg, Liberia.  Save the Children-UK yesterday turned over a modern school complex to the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Education. The UK-based children group through its Liberia office yesterday dedicated the newly constructed modern John S. Varfley Elementary Public School building and a playground in the Careysburg District.  Read more

                                    2009-10 Scholarship Awards

Ten Students were awarded scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year. The students were first and second in their classes. The scholarships were based on the recommendations of the Scholarship Committee. See photo gallery to view photos of students.

Press Release:  Bassa High School Association Boosts Economy of Silver Spring, M.D.

The weekend of August 18 – 20, 2009 brought a temporary boost to the economy of Silver Spring, MD when graduates and former students of the Bassa High School gathered for their annual reunion. Members came from several States including Rhode Island, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, Delaware, Texas and New Jersey, among others. Read more

Elwood Dunn released September 2009 by Palgrave Macmillan Press is a major contribution to the ongoing discussion on not only Liberia, the first independent Africa Republic (1847) successful attempt at surviving in a world dominated by European Imperialist powers of Britain, France, Germany, and Spain.
